We are proposing to develop an interdisciplinary project based on computational modeling and followed by in vitro experimental validation that allows the study of magnetic nanoparticles’ distribution/diffusion in relation to the tissue porosity and the initial pressure drop of the magnetic fluid.
O1 – To develop a computational-based model for studying the dynamic distribution of magnetic nanoparticles embedded in a carrier fluid under pressure drop within a heterogenic tissue seen as a multiphase porous systems with elastic-plastic properties.
O2 – To compare and identify novel relationships between pressure drop, tissue porosity (stiffness dependent) and magnetic nanoparticles distribution in normal vs pathological (cancerous) tissue conditions while using the model described above.
O3 – To validate key observations achieved from the numerical analysis with an appropriate in vitro experimental set-up.
MO – Managerial objective.
